Easy Garlic Chicken Recipe สูตรไก่กระเทียม สูตรหมูกระเทียม
Updated: Feb 11, 2022
This garlic chicken (or pork) dish is one of Thailand's staple dish where the locals eat for lunch everyday. If you're not familiar with this authentic Thai dish, no worries! It is super easy to make, and hopefully this easy garlic chicken recipe will become one of your staple dishes at home too.

On contrary to popular perception, Thai food is not always spicy 🤯 Most people didn't grow up eating spicy food as kids (including myself) and I have many friends who barely eat any chili as adults. We would, however, add พริกน้ำปลา prik-nampla (chili fish sauce,) Thai Seafood Dip, or other spicy dips to pair with the dishes that don't contain chili.
This is a our go-to lunch menu when we go to the theme parks, we live in the Theme Park Capital City of the World after all : ) I would marinate the meat overnight and cook it in the morning. This dish is also excellent to have with sticky rice, and we usually pair it with sticky rice because the kids love it (and it's also easier to eat when we're outside.)

This is one of my favorite dishes growing up so I am so happy to share it with you. Let's check out the ingredients and start cooking this delicious weekday quick menu! : )
Ingredients:
Marinade these ingredients (overnight if you could, but half an hour will be fine too :)
- 500 g chicken or pork or hard tofu (cut into small pieces.)
- 2-4 tablespoons of minced garlic (I made it to share with the kids so I used about 2 tbsp.) - 1 tablespoon of Thai Seasoning Soy Sauce ซอสฝาเขียว or Maggi (I LOVE Maggi <3) - 2 tablespoons of Thai Thin Soy Sauce
- 2 tablespoons Thai Oyster Sauce
- 1 teaspoon of ground Thai white pepper
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
--------------------------------------------------
- 2/3 tablespoons of vegetable oil (I use avocado oil.)
- Fried egg
Optional (but highly recommended) Ingredients:
- cucumber slices
- 1 tablespoon of coriander roots/ coriander stem for the marinade mix
- add 1 tablespoon of milk in the marinade to soften the meat
- Thai black soy sauce for coloring (to replicate a Thai childhood menu.)
Instructions:
0. Make yourself a drink and turn on a #goodvibesonly playlist.
1. Cut up chicken/ pork/ tofu.
2. Marinate. It's best to marinate the meat with the ingredients overnight - but half an hour will be fine too. Massage in the sauce and ingredients.

3. Fry the fried eggs ahead of time (we're just going to use one pan for less clean up time.)

4. Fry the garlic. We use the garlic to marinate and we can also fry some to add to the flavor and aroma before we put in the meat.

5. Stir fry the marinated pork.

6. Add in a tiny bit of black soy sauce for extra coloring.

7. Ready to serve over rice. This time I added a bit of water for extra sauce.

Ending the blog with the Thai garlic pork that I marinated and didn't add water to it. it's amazing with plain rice or sticky rice. Bon Appetit! Please let me know how you like this dish.
